RATIONALE

This year, the Spoken Poetry Contest was identified as one of the advocacy activities of the Municipal Tourism & Cultural Affairs Section (MTCAS) that shall heighten awareness and understanding of the Tagkawayanin on the significance of independence and freedom. The Contest also aims to promote performance arts and the creativity of the Filipino youth in expressing their thoughts and ideas.

Spoken poetry is a performance art that is word based. It is a writing that is meant to be spoken or delivered with emotions to an audience. It is an oral art that focuses on the aesthetics of word play, rhythm, and provisions, rhyme, intonation and voice inflection.
